Porsche tops its record-breaking sales figures for North America in 2007 New Cayenne ensures continuing growth
Stuttgart. The Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart once again achieved record sales for North America in the calendar year 2007, despite the difficult market environment. With 36,680 deliveries, the manufacturer of premium sports vehicles topped the previous year’s all-time high of 36,095 unit sales by two per cent, thus setting the fourth record in a row. In the year under review this growth was driven by the new Cayenne, even though it only appeared in North American dealers’ showrooms for the first time in March 2007. Its newly-developed engines with direct fuel injection made it a bestseller right from the start. Compared with the previous year, which however saw the discontinuation of the predecessor model, Cayenne sales soared by 20 per cent to 13,370 units. The 911 achieved 13,153 unit sales, representing a growth of four per cent. Most in demand were the top variants 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo Cabriolet. The Boxster series accounted for 10,153 units, with sales of the Cayman models amounting to 6,249 vehicles.
In North America, Porsche achieved record sales not only for the year as a whole, but also for the month of December 2007. Despite ongoing consumer uncertainty due to the subprime crisis, sales went up to
3,001 units, representing a further two per cent increase over the excellent results for December of the previous year. Here, too, the Cayenne was the best seller, achieving an increase of more than
35 per cent with a total of 1,316 units. Deliveries of the 911 totalled 867, as compared to 1,164 in December 2006. The Boxster series showed stable development with 818 units, while the Cayman models accounted for 565 vehicle sales.
