Available for your Porsche Taycan, Apple Maps EV routing uses real-time vehicle information to help you navigate to your destination, recommending charging stops when needed. By analyzing elevation changes along your route and other factors, Apple Maps identifies appropriate charging stations along the way. If you drive until your charge gets too low, you’re offered a route to the nearest compatible charging station.
Looking for information on configuring and using Apple Maps EV routing? We’ve collected the most important questions and answers for you below.
Apple Maps EV routing is a feature within Apple Maps that provides directions which include compatible charging stations. It relies on an active CarPlay connection with a compatible vehicle to monitor real-time battery performance and plot your trip.
All Taycan models support Apple Maps EV routing. For model years 2021 and older, a software update is required to enable this feature. The update is free, and can be carried out during a visit to a Porsche service workshop.
One advantage of using this feature is that Apple Maps will know your vehicle’s current charge and adjust route options accordingly. Apple Maps uses energy consumption models that are specific to your Taycan, allowing for an accurate battery usage prediction which updates during your trip. Apple Maps will then route you past compatible charging stations on the way to your destination.
To enable this feature, you will need to connect your My Porsche App with Apple Maps. Please ensure that your iPhone is up to date (iOS 16.4 or later) and that you are logged in to the My Porsche App.
Enable EV routing in Apple Maps
Connect your iPhone to Apple CarPlay.
Open the Apple Maps App on your iPhone and do one of the following:
a. Tap your picture or initials at the top right of the search card. Tap Vehicles, tap Connect Your Porsche, then follow the onscreen instructions. If you don’t see your picture or initials, tap Cancel next to the search field, or tap the search field, then tap Cancel.
b. Enter your destination to get driving directions, then tap Connect (above the list of routes) and follow the onscreen instructions.
You can disable this feature at any time within the My Porsche App. Select your vehicle, switch to the functions tab, and tap the EV Routing tile. You can use the data sharing toggle to enable or disable this feature at any time.
If you drive multiple vehicles, you can change which vehicle Apple Maps provides routing instructions for.
Input your driving directions.
Before you tap Go, scroll down in the route card.
Choose another electric vehicle, or if you’re driving a vehicle that doesn’t have an EV routing app on your iPhone, tap Different Car.
Open your My Porsche App and access the EV Routing tile.
Switch off the data sharing toggle to disable the feature and stop sharing data with Apple Maps.

Both Apple Maps EV routing and the Porsche Charging Planner allow for reliable route planning with your Taycan. The main difference is the navigation system you access it through. Porsche Charging Planner uses the built-in navigation system of the Taycan while Apple Maps EV routing is accessible via Apple Maps and CarPlay.
