Compatibility of the charging plugs with your electric vehicle.

Your electric vehicle is fitted with a charging socket. Various charging plugs are installed at the charging stations. The type 2 socket has become the standard for AC charging stations. At DC fast charging stations CCS2 sockets are standard. The Porsche Taycan is compatible with both charging plugs.

Type 2 connector

This type of plug is used at AC charging stations (alternating current). Since the battery of an electric vehicle can only accept direct current (DC), this is converted from alternating current (AC) in the vehicle during the charging process.

Combined Charging System (CCS)

This type of plug is used at fast charging stations (DC charging stations). At these charging stations, alternating current (AC) is converted into direct current (DC) and relayed to the battery of the electric vehicle.

Which electrical sockets can I use to charge my Porsche?

Porsche offers various infrastructure cables. For domestic usage, a 10 Amp / 240 Volt cable is offered and various Single Phase / Three Phase industrial cable options. In order to charge with the greatest possible efficiency and shortest duration, it is recommended that you use an industrial electrical outlet.

A detailed analysis of your domestic infrastructure is provided by an expert as part of the home check. Further information is also available from your Porsche partner.

I want to be able to charge my Porsche at home. How can I find out if that is possible?

Using the Online Pre-Check, the essential prerequisites for using Porsche charging equipment are checked in your home. The Online Pre-Check is free-of-charge and can be easily performed, e.g. from your couch.

In order to obtain more detailed information, you can have your Porsche partner arrange a home check by an external service partner. During this, your electrical infrastructure is checked and details regarding the installation of the equipment at your home can be agreed.

How can I ensure that my Porsche is not completely discharged?

Normally, your vehicle will not discharge completely, instead it will inform you that the charge is low, well before depletion. Pay attention to the instructions in the PCM and the instrument cluster.

In addition, your Porsche can suggest a route to a nearby charging point if the vehicle charge is low.

In everyday situations there are many options available to you to charge your Porsche, e.g. during breaks at service stations or whilst out shopping.
