Goodwood Revival: Porsche Classic shows early rarities and one-off cars
Traditional appearance in the style of the 1960s
Stuttgart
. With seldom-shown rarities and one-off cars, Porsche revives the first decade of the company’s history at the Goodwood Revival 2015. A completely restored 356 A 1600 S Speedster from 1957 can be admired there as well as the bodyshell of a 356 B Carrera 2 Cabrio with an aluminium hardtop and electric sunroof. In 1962, the only unit of the sports car in this particular equipment specification left the plant. This one of a kind car is currently being restored by Porsche Classic. The Goodwood Revival is probably the most popular meeting of old racing cars from the period before 1966. It will take place at the Goodwood Motor circuit in southern England on September 11-13.
An appearance in tune with the era in question is part of the tradition at the Goodwood Revival. That is why the booth of Porsche Classic is decorated in the style of a brand workshop from the early 1960s. At the booth, the experts from the Classic workshop will disassemble and reassemble the gearbox of a 356 in a live performance. In addition, Porsche will present the engine and transmission of a Type 901 with chassis number 300,057, which was rediscovered in a barn only recently. Porsche Classic has restored both units on behalf of the Porsche Werksmuseum. In addition, visitors can get a taste of what Porsche Classic has on offer – the range of redesigned parts, for instance, or the new Porsche Classic car care kit.
As a division of the Zuffenhausen-based sports car maker, Porsche Classic is responsible for the supply of all vehicles whose production time usually dates back more than ten years ago. This includes all aspects of care and technical literature to the delivery and reproduction of original parts right up to complete restoration. The company is currently expanding its international dealer and service network to around 100 Porsche Classic Partners to optimise support and overhaul of classic cars. At these service points, Porsche customers and potential customers can expect the complete range of services of Porsche Classic. In doing so, Porsche has integrated the retention of value and care of classic and vintage cars in an innovative service concept, closely linking Porsche tradition with Porsche innovation. More information and the parts program are available at www.Porsche.com/classic.
