Shanghai. Since entering the Chinese market, Porsche has always made customers its main priority. In light of Strategy 2025, Porsche China has set up the new functions of Customer Relations as well as Strategy and Business Development to better serve Chinese customers with the commitment being rooted in the future of the Chinese market. Mr. Gary Shone and Mr. Carsten Hess have been respectively appointed Vice President, Customer Relations and Vice President, Strategy and Business Development by Porsche AG in Germany. They will directly report to Ms. Sheng Tantzscher, acting President and CEO of Porsche China.

Since entering into the Chinese market in 2001, Porsche has captured the hearts of numerous Chinese customers with its strong product lineup and unparalleled products. That passion of the customers has led China to be the largest single market for Porsche worldwide for the past three consecutive years. In face of the huge customer base and their increasing needs toward premium product experiences, excellent service with high standards and professional customer relationship management have become the foundation to achieve customer satisfaction. Thus, Porsche China set up the new function of Customer Relations with foresight and insight, to enhance experience for customers and meet the individualized needs of different customers. Being the first Vice President of Customer Relations, Mr. Gary Shone boasts 25 years of management experience in premium automobile retail, marketing, and dealership operations both in China and abroad. In 2012, Mr. Shone joined Porsche China, taking the post of the General Manager of Porsche Centre Beijing Central. Later in 2016, he was further appointed to take charge of three own-retail Porsche Centres – Porsche Centre Beijing Central, Porsche Centre Shanghai Pudong and Porsche Centre Beijing Goldenport. Possessing rich management experience and acute career insights, he has paid high attention to customer satisfaction and loyalty, while heeding to efficient management. With his great efforts, Porsche Centre Beijing Goldenport sat atop among all Chinese Porsche Centers in customer relationship management rankings, followed by Porsche Centre Beijing Central.

Compared with the continuously increasing needs of customers, the auto market is undergoing a more profound revolution than ever before. Never indulging in the current success in China, Porsche set up another new function of Strategy and Business Development with both a broad and long-term view, which demonstrates its commitment to making customers the focus, being rooted in the future of the Chinese market and achieving the goals of Strategy 2025. In the future, the department of Strategy and Business Development will dig into the industry and market changes, and provide forward-looking thinking and inspirations for the management team, arming Porsche to blaze its way forward through all the challenges and advancing victoriously. Being the first Vice President of Strategy and Business Development of Porsche China, Mr. Carsten Hess will be responsible for organizational development, innovation management, as well as exploring new business opportunities within smart mobility and digital transformation. Mr. Hess has 15 years of rich experience in finance, sales planning, marketing and business development in the luxury car market since starting his career at Porsche in 2003. Through his time with Porsche he has held multiple highly responsible positions such as Senior Manager of Sales and Aftersales Model Line 911, Senior Manager of Marketing Planning, as well as Management Assistant to the Executive Board Member of Sales and Marketing since 2014 before his new appointment.

“I’m delighted to have Mr. Gary Shone and Mr. Carsten Hess respectively taking charge of Customer Relations as well as Strategy and Business Development for Porsche China. Their appointments are of important significance to Porsche China,” said Ms. Sheng Tantzscher. “The strategic upgrade for the management team of Porsche China represents Porsche’s quick response to the future of markets, practicing the idea of ‘Customer Centricity and being rooted in the future of the Chinese market’. I believe that their leadership will be a tremendous asset to aid in the growth of Porsche China to a brand-new level, as well as a promising future.”
