Porsche proudly displays the marque’s impressive range of advanced sport models as a powerful line-up of four new cars make their Asia Premiere during the Beijing Auto Show on April 25. The line-up of new models for Asia clearly display Porsche’s spirit as a pioneer in the auto industry, with the Mission E Cross Turismo concept car showcasing the brand’s vision for the electric era and the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo bringing unparalleled performance and practicality in a hybrid model, while remaining dedicated to the Porsche motorsport DNA with two remarkable new sports models – the 911 GT3 RS and 718 Cayman GTS.
The unveiling of these news models come at a strong time for Porsche in China as it showed steady growth throughout the first quarter of 2018 with 18,600 deliveries, an increase of 3% from the same period last year. This follows a record year for the Chinese market in 2017, with Porsche delivering 71,508 vehicles, making China the largest individual market for Porsche worldwide for third year in a row and the biggest market for Porsche SUVs, 718 and the Panamera. Reflecting the evolving demands from one of Porsche’s most important market, the models introduced during the Beijing Auto Show meet both the diversified lifestyles of Chinese consumers and the country’s rapidly growing appreciation for motorsport culture.
Mission E Cross Turismo: Future of high-performance, electric lifestyles
The Mission E Cross Turismo is the first Cross-Utility Vehicle (CUV) from Porsche, embodying Porsche‘s typical sports car design and advanced off-road features. It delivers an output of 440 kW (600 hp) with 0-100 km/h acceleration in less than 3.5 seconds. This performance is in addition to a continuous power level that is unprecedented among electric vehicles. With all-wheel steering, adaptive air suspension and several other cutting-edge features, the Mission E Cross Turismo is agile and stable, offering drivers unprecedented sport performance that can meet the needs of any lifestyle. Boasting a range of over 500 kilometres and the ability to recharge for a further 400 kilometres in just 15 minutes, it is perfectly suitable for everyday driving and practical use as a cross-utility off-road vehicle.
Meanwhile, its striking appearance captures the essence of its futuristic concept and combines it with the signature Porsche design elements like its low-cut bonnet and heavily curved wings. Seamlessly integrating the concept car into the age of digitalization are a versatile array of innovative display and operating concepts, including more than 20 services and APPs and an intuitive advanced personal cockpit equipped with the latest in Porsche’s touchscreen technology and eye-tracking control.
Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo: Pioneer in high-performance hybrid with everyday practicality
While the Mission E Cross Turismo concept car is Porsche’s vision for the future, the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo already stands in a class of its own, fusing unmatched hybrid performance with outstanding design geared toward everyday practicality. At the core of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid sport Turismo is a four-litre V8 engine with an electric motor, resulting in a remarkable 500 kW/680 hp and enabling the vehicle to achieve zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h. With the ability of an emission-free range of up to 50 kilometres using solely electric power, the model maximizes efficiency as well as power.
Further setting the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo in a class of its own is an upgraded body design that brings more space, accessibility and practicality. In addition to all of the advanced features of the second generation of the Panamera, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo also boasts a radical new spatial concept that incorporate features such as a large tailgate, low loading edge, increased luggage compartment volume and a 4+1 seating configuration that ensure it can handle everyday tasks with ease.
718 Cayman GTS: Advanced mid-range model with distinct visual impact
The new 718 Cayman GTS offers unmistakable Porsche sports DNA, with traditional sports features further refined through a new Sport Design apron and numerous black elements such as the tinted Bi-Xenon headlights and tail lights, black rear-apron and centrally positioned black tail pipe. The model’s sport DNA is carried into the interior as well, where a Sports Chrono package stopwatch (included as standard), driver and passenger sports seats, Alcantara trimming throughout the interior. A bold engine sound by a standard centrally positioned sports exhaust system reflects the model’s power and enhance its sporty passion.
The new 718 Cayman GTS not only makes a strong impression visually. Under the hood, the model is backed by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder boxer engine that is capable of achieving 269 kW (365 hp) – 26 kW (35 hp) more than its GTS predecessors with naturally aspirated engines – thanks to a newly developed intake duct and an optimised turbocharger. When equipped with the optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and Sport Chrono Package, the 718 Cayman GTS is capable of zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 290 km/h.
911 GT3 RS: Thrill of motorsport in a road-ready vehicle
Born from Porsche’s record-breaking heritage in motorsport, the Asian premiere of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS brings to this market Porsche’s most powerful road-going track sports car with a naturally aspirated engine. Boasting a six-cylinder boxer engine with a four-litre capacity, the powerful new Porsche 911 GT3 RS achieves an output of 383 kW (520 hp), with the capacity to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 312 km/h. Further embracing its roots in performance motorsport, the chassis is taken right from the track, with rear-axle steering helping to provide unrivalled precision in a road car.
New: Asia’s first Porsche Experience Centre to open in Shanghai
Bringing customers in the region unrivalled access to pure pleasure of Porsche driving, the Porsche Experience Centre Shanghai is scheduled to celebrate its opening tomorrow, on April 26th. Offering Porsche owners and fans a unique chance to drive several of their favourite models, the new experience centre is the first in Asia, reflecting the high importance Porsche places on the Chinese market.
