The all-new Taycan with rear-wheel drive is now available for order in ChinaThe all-new entry-level model of the Taycan family

Shanghai. Following in the footsteps of the Taycan Turbo S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan 4S, the fully-electric, four-door sports saloon Taycan line is welcoming its fourth variant. Thanks to the sports car excellence that Porsche is famous for, as well as the cutting-edge electrification technology of the Taycan, the all-new Taycan strikes a perfect balance between performance and everyday usability. With a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PSM) on the rear axle, the new variant is currently the only rear-wheel drive model in this series. Porsche’s classic rear-drive layout has driven the world wild for decades, and now it is poised to create even more diverse driving pleasure for the Taycan series. Meanwhile, Porsche is introducing a large number of exciting new elements to the entire Taycan family, ranging from extensive personalisation options covering the exterior and interior of the car, to the advanced optional Head-up Display system. The all-new Taycan is now available for order in China at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of 888,000 RMB.

The new variant is available with two battery sizes: a single-deck Performance Battery with a gross capacity of 79.2 kWh comes as standard, while the double-deck 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus is optionally available. The power output is up to 300 kW (408 PS) with the Performance Battery or up to 350 kW (476 PS) with the Performance Battery Plus (overboost power with Launch Control in each case). The all-new Taycan accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds with Launch Control. The top speed of both models is 230 km/h. The range is up to 414 kilometres with the Performance Battery and up to 489 kilometres with the Performance Battery Plus (in accordance with NEDC in each case).

On 29 June, Porsche premiered the all-new Taycan in China with an innovative virtual press conference. Dr. Stefan Weckbach, Vice President of model line Taycan, joined the show via video link: “The Taycan rear-wheel drive was developed together with the 4S and the flagship models, so we’ve been testing this car for a very long time. I’m confident that the all-new Taycan is a perfect entry point into the fully electrified Porsche world. It’s excellent in performance and fun to drive. We are very happy to present it now in China.”

Powerful with pioneering technology

Impressive acceleration, traction power typical of sports cars and outstanding continuously available power – The new variant also boasts these strengths as the rest of the model series. With a PSM on the rear axle as well as a two-speed transmission, the new variant achieves excellent acceleration from a standing start and high-speed driving performance. The 800 volt system structure on the Taycan testified itself with Porsche 919 Hybrid winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times in a row, thus able to ensure consistently high performance. The all-new Taycan is then enabled to reproduce its impressive acceleration more than ten times in succession without any drop in power, while further reducing the charging time. Both models with two battery sizes can be charged with 800 V high power chargers from 5% to 80% State of Charge in 30 minutes. Also derived from the track is the best-in-class recuperation power, with an output of up to 265 kW, the Taycan can further boast another 4 km as its energy recovers from decelerating from 200 km/h down to zero.

At the same time, Porsche’s well-honed chassis system helps the Taycan to easily adapt to a wide range of road conditions and driving modes. The integrated Porsche 4D Chassis Control analyses and synchronises all chassis systems in real time. The new variant features the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic shock absorber control system as standard, as well as the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and the rear-axle steering system optionally available, ensuring the all-new Taycan benefits from both the precise handling of a sports car and long-distance comfort.

In particular, the mileage display inside the car is calculated based on various factors that have an impact on energy consumption, including the driving style, road conditions, outside temperature, use of accessories, etc. Therefore, the all-new Taycan is able to indicate a reliable and practical range value in car, which over time will gradually match the individual driving profile of each car owner.

More recognisable with rich personalisation options

The rear-wheel driven Taycan retains its family-typical exterior design. The LED main headlights with four-point day-time running lights are an iconic elements, while the visual of seeming to float is very futuristic. The new variant comes standard with the 19-inch Taycan Aero wheels and the Black brake calipers, which completes its clear and progressive look, emphasing its identity as a fully-electric sports car. The standard Comfort Seats in Front (14-Way, Electric) with Memory Package and Advanced Climate Control (two zones), together with the panoramic fixed glass roof which is equipped as standard exclusively for the Chinese market, further improve the in-car comfort. Thanks to the enlarged front luggage compartment, the total volume of the new variant’s luggage compartments is 491 litres.

The personalisation options of the Taycan series have been further expanded. The newly added seven exterior colours include Frozen Berry Metallic, Coffee Beige Metallic, Cherry Metallic, Mahogany Metallic, Neptune Blue Metallic, Ice Grey Metallic and Crayon, with a large number of interior options, providing even more customisation possibilities. Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur offers tailored solutions such as LED headlights in Glacier Blue, Taycan Exclusive Design Wheels with Aeroblades Carbon and stitching as well as different coloured seat centres to help customers create a truly unique and personalised Taycan.

Convenient and safe with intelligent functions

In the all-new Taycan, the driver-centred Porsche Advanced Cockpit is fully optimised for the new digital era. Four large touch screens (including the optional Passenger Display) in the car replace the traditional controls, creating a stronger interactive experience, including more touch operations and a voice control function which responds to the command “Hey Porsche”. Starting from a few weeks ago, Porsche offers the Head-up Display to the entire Taycan family for the first time ever. The high-quality, full-colour display projects relevant information directly into the driver’s field of vision. The position of the display can be adjusted directly in the system in line with the driver’s height and seat settings. At the same time, the display allows users to switch automatically between day and night modes, thus reducing the risk of the driver being distracted from the road.

The all-new Taycan is fitted as standard with a host of assistance systems, such as the Cruise Control with Speed Limiter, Park Assist with reversing Camera and Lane Keeping Assist, to guarantee a safe daily journey.

More exclusive experiences with the charging service package

Based on the real-life scenarios and travel habbits of Porsche owners, Porsche has deployed a comprehensive and convenient charging network across China, including “Home Charging”, “Porsche Public Charging”, “Destination Charging” and “3rd Party Charging”. In addition, more services will be launched successively to meet the diverse needs of Taycan owners. All first-hand Taycan owners are provided with experience of Porsche Public Charging network including those Turbo charging at Porsche Centres. Afterwards, customers can purchase a charging service package to fulfil their needs (the specific price is shown in the table below).

For the “Destination Charging” cooperation with premium hotels, Taycan owners can enjoy the charging service for free. For the “3rd Party Charging” network with industry-leading charging partners, the charging price follows the standards of each charging operator. Customers can pay directly after charging via the Porsche APP without having to add any pre-pay funds.
