Shanghai. On 16 March, the nomination list for the 2022-2023 Porsche “Young Chinese Artist of the Year” were announced. After a rigorous recommendation and preliminary evaluation period, 14 outstanding young artists with a strong sense of artistic creativity and forward-thinking mindsets were shortlisted from a group of 21 contenders. The shortlisted artists will present their new thematic artworks at the group exhibition in June this year, where they will be voted on by the jury committee and compete for the final place in this year's selection.

"The competition for this year's selection was fierce from the initial nomination stage, and it took many deep discussions and studies by the jury before the shortlist was finally settled. I believe these young artists will bring fantastic surprises to the new exhibition with their out-standing talents and unique perspectives, while injecting new vitality into the Chinese contem-porary art scene." Ms. Jojo Tang, Vice President Public Relations and Press of Porsche China said.

This year's nominees are young contemporary artists from the post-80s to the post-90s gener-ations, who come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, have rich academic and working ex-perience, and are skilled in a wide range of art forms, including installation, painting, video, photography, sculpture and more. It is worth mentioning that the proportion of female artists among the nominees has increased significantly, rising to 50% this year, bringing more crea-tive vision and female strength to the selection.

In the next phase, the nominated artists will be working intensively on their group exhibitions, presenting their artistic creations and ideas to the professional jury, the media and the public, to further express the distinctive perspectives and unique views of the young generation around the specific theme. At the end of this year, the winners will be officially announced, and the winners' exhibition will be held during the ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair in No-vember.
