Stuttgart . At the invitation of Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Executive Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, the former world tennis stars Pete Sampras and Carlos Moyá visited the Porsche production facility in Zuffenhausen on Tuesday. A highlight of the tour of the plant conducted by Dr. Oliver Blume, Member of the Executive Board Production and Logistics, was, alongside the 911 and Boxster assembly, a walk around the exclusive manufactory in which the elaborately hand-built Porsche 918 Spyder super sports car is made.

“For me as a passionate Porsche driver, it has been very interesting to see how these cars are built and to meet the people behind Porsche,” said Pete Sampras, the winner of 14 Grand Slam tournaments during the course a career in which he was the world No. 1 for a total of 286 weeks. Carlos Moyá was especially taken by the 918 Spyder: “Without having seen it with one’s eyes it is very difficult to imagine just how much love of detail goes into making this dream car.”

Following on from the guided tour of the production facility, Pete Sampras was not going to miss the chance of joining Matthias Müller on a visit around the current special “24 Hours for Eternity. Le Mans.” exhibition in the Porsche Museum. More than 20 different racing cars tell the unique and exciting history of this legendary 24-hour race with the current Porsche 919 Hybrid as the highlight.

A piece of tennis history once again came alive on the Porsche Arena’s Centre Court on Easter Monday. Playing in the Berenberg Classics “Duel of the Legends”, Pete Sampras and Carlos Moyá showed that they can still play attractive and exciting tennis even though they retired a while ago. The enthralling encounter with spectacular rallies was won by the clay court specialist Moyá 7-5, 6-4.
