Bose is one of the global leaders in developing and manufacturing audio products and focuses heavily on research and technology. This is only possible because the company is privately owned and it reinvests 100% of its annual earnings. The majority of this investment goes back into its own research.
In the 1970s, Bose was one of the first pioneers to research acoustics for the automotive market. This was due to the fact that inside a vehicle various factors significantly influence sound quality, such as the position of the passengers listening or the construction materials used. This insight caused researchers at Bose to look at the interior from a completely new perspective and to look for new solutions to achieve excellent sound quality. This result is a sound system customised for the respective vehicle. Since 1982, Bose has been developing these systems as factory installations for renowned auto brands.
In 2001, the first Porsche with a Bose sound system debuted on the market: the 996. Today, for each Porsche model (except the GT3 and GT3 RS) a customised Bose 5.1 Surround Sound System is offered factory installed as special equipment (standard equipment for the Turbo models). The latest highlight introduced by Bose was with the Panamera.
