Electric Vehicles Charging Act 2022

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced the commencement of the Electric Vehicles Charging Act 2022 (EVCA) on 8 December 2023. The EVCA introduces new regulations related to the charging of electric vehicles (EVs), especially around the installation, use, and maintenance of EV charging equipment in Singapore.

All existing EV chargers must be registered by 7 June 2024. Existing EV chargers that were purchased before 8 December 2023 are eligible for free registration if applications are submitted by 7 June 2024. For EV chargers purchased after 8 December 2023, the Government will provide a 50% subsidy of the SGD 750.00 charger registration fee until 31 December 2025.

Compatible charging connectors

Your electric vehicle is equipped with a charging socket that is compatible with different types of charging plugs found at charging stations. Type 2 connectors are the standard for AC charging stations, while CCS2 connectors are standard at DC fast-charging stations.

Type 2 connector

This charging connector is used for AC charging stations and is commonly found in South-East Asia and Australasia countries.

Which electrical sockets can I use to charge my Porsche?

You can charge your Porsche both at market-specific domestic and industrial electrical outlets. In order to charge with the greatest possible efficiency and shortest duration, it is recommended that you use an industrial electrical outlet.

Performing the Porsche Charging Pre-Check at https://www.porsche.com/countries/charging-check will give you an initial overview based on the specific situation in your own home.

A detailed analysis of your domestic infrastructure is created by an expert as part of the home check (availability is country-dependent). Further information is also available from your Porsche partner.

I want to be able to charge my Porsche at home. How can I find out if that is possible?

In order to have a more detailed review, you can have your Porsche partner arrange a home check by an external service partner. During this, your electrical infrastructure is checked and details regarding the installation of the equipment at your home can be agreed.

How can I ensure that my Porsche is not completely discharged?

Normally, your vehicle will not discharge completely, instead it will inform you that the charge is low in good time. Pay attention to the instructions in the PCM and the instrument cluster.

In addition, your Porsche can suggest a route to a nearby charging point if the vehicle charge is low.

In everyday situations there are many options available to you to charge your Porsche, e.g. during breaks at fuel and service stations or while out shopping.

Can I connect the Porsche charging equipment to other energy management systems?

The charging equipment offered by Porsche is based on open standards. However, the compatibility with third-party energy management systems may vary due to the variety of products available on the market.
