What is Monterey Car Week?  Monterey Car Week is one of the biggest dates in the global automotive calendar. Held annually on northern California’s picturesque Monterey Peninsula each August, it draws car lovers from all over the US and from around the world to celebrate automotive history, luxury and innovation. From intimate gatherings to exclusive showcases such as The Quail and the sprawling Concours d’Elegance, Monterey Car Week has something for everyone who has a passion for cars. Here’s some Porsche highlights from the 2024 edition.

The 911 Turbo turns 50 in 2024 and Porsche is celebrating the big milestone with a special anniversary edition – the 911 Turbo 50 Years – which made a head-turning appearance at Monterey Car Week. Featuring styling references, inside and out, from those early Turbo models – like its interior with Dress Mackenzie tartan-inspired highlights – as well as special badging and details throughout, only 1,974 will be made. That figure, of course, corresponds to 1974, the first year of production of the 911 Turbo. Alongside it, Porsche presented an early Turbo model in the shape of a classic 930 Turbo from 1975. Over at The Quail, fans were also treated to the public premiere of the optionally available Heritage Design Package 50 Years Turbo. With additional exclusive design and equipment features inspired by 911 Turbo models of the 1970s, it was displayed in the striking base colour used for the Heritage Design Package, Aventurine Green Metallic. Porsche 911 Speedster (type 993)

One of the standout Porsche cars at Monterey Car Week was this beautiful one-off 911 Speedster (type 993). Brought to life by the Porsche Sonderwunsch team, who turn customer special requests into stunning reality, it was commissioned by renowned Italian designer Luca Trazzi.  The Speedster name has been associated with Porsche since 1954. This bespoke model is the embodiment of Trazzi’s vision and passion for Porsche and is based on a 911 Carrera Cabriolet (type 993) from 1994.  Porsche 911 S/T in Dani Blue

At Monterey, fans could also catch a glimpse of a custom Porsche 911 S/T owned by Kentucky-based sports car collector and horse breeder, Jorge Carnicero. His unique model, finished in a bespoke colour called Dani Blue, was another special model crafted by the Porsche Sonderwunsch programme.  Porsche officially handed over the Dani Blue 911 S/T to a thrilled Jorge in Monterey, where it was one of the standout Porsche cars of the entire week. Porsche Macan Turbo Electric

The Turbo name was acclaimed across Monterey Car Week as it marks its 50th year. It’s a name reserved for some of the most special Porsche cars across the entire model range – such as the all-electric Macan Turbo, which stood proud on its stand here. It’s a car that’s the embodiment of what Turbo means to Porsche. With 639PS, it delivers incredible performance and a true luxury experience which, combined with a range of 591km, makes it an outstanding daily driver.
