Rent a Porsche and live out your sports car fantasy
Today, following your dreams is a true luxury experience. Like hiring a 911 or Taycan for a day – or more – perhaps. Porsche Drive Rental helps you achieve that… and it couldn’t be simpler
Ferry Porsche, the man who established Porsche as a sports car maker, always dreamed big. “I looked around but could not find the car I was dreaming of,” he once famously said. “So, I decided to build it myself.” Since 1948, when Ferry presented the world with the ground-breaking 356, Porsche has been building dreams for us. You strongly suspect that Ferry would consider Porsche Drive Rental – the very best way to hire a Porsche – an opportunity for as many as possible to realise those dreams. With Porsche Drive Rental, this dream of driving a Porsche is open to the many, not the few. In 40 locations, spread across seven countries, you can choose the Porsche that suits you and it becomes yours for the day… or longer. You can hire a 911 or a Cayenne for up to 28 days, but even for one day it’s an opportunity to realise the dream of getting behind the wheel of a Porsche. Of experiencing the unique thrill of driving one. Of just you, a Porsche and the open road.Renting a Porsche is something a bit specialWhen a landmark birthday came around for Adrian Aldred, a creative entrepreneur from London, he knew he had to mark it by doing something special. Growing up, he had an uncle who owned an air-cooled 911, but it had been 12 years since he had, briefly, last driven a Porsche – a friend’s 911 (996). A little bit of online research and Adrian was soon tapping into the booking portal at Porsche Drive Rental to hire a Porsche. A few more clicks later and it was all booked, and the anticipation levels began to rise. Adrian had chosen a 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet for some roof-down motoring and an extra connection with the elements. A brave choice for January in southern Germany but not, he says, if you wrap up warm. As this was going to be a special day, Adrian made the decision to travel to Stuttgart – the city that's home to Porsche HQ – to hire it. “I wanted to be immersed in the Porsche world, to take in the special ambience of visiting the Porsche Museum,” he says.
It was like it was wired into my brain – more than any other car that I have driven
What's it like to rent a Porsche? If you’ve ever rented a car, you’re probably used to being handed a key, given a location on a map and then told to go and hunt for it yourself. In contrast, when you hire a Porsche, how you’re introduced to your car is an essential part of the experience. Hire one from the Porsche Museum and your car is brought out to the front of the building itself. But wherever you hire a Porsche from, you’re given the VIP treatment, with a full rundown of the car before you head off to familiarise yourself with it (fully comprehensive insurance comes with the car, by the way). “It’s such a spectacle,” says Adrian. “Like, wow. You almost get the feeling that you’re buying it. Then you drive it off the forecourt and within moments you’re on the autobahn.”The special treatment doesn’t end when you drive off either. As he wasn’t a local, Adrian found that the suggested routes programmed into the navigation system meant that he could call on the knowledge of Porsche driving experts at his fingertips. You can also use the Roads by Porsche App (and visit the Porsche Drive Account) to find your perfect route. In Adrian’s case, he says it allowed him to get the most out of every minute of the five hours he spent driving the 911.“The route took me along fast autobahns and then up through quiet, pretty villages into the Black Forest,” says Adrian. “The entire process when you hire a Porsche is so straightforward, but it would have taken me ages to plan a route like that. It gave me more time to learn how to really drive the 911. I’ve never been in a car that felt so planted, so connected. It was like it was wired into my brain – more than any other kind that I have driven.”Tips from a Porsche renterAdrian’s first Porsche Drive Rental experience was so compelling that it won’t be his last, he says. He gained a few tips from it that he’ll dip into next time. Like stop and take plenty of pictures, bring a friend along with you (you can name a second driver free of charge) or maybe even go with a group and hire a car each.“The route took me along fast autobahns and then up through quiet, pretty villages into the Black Forest,” says Adrian. “The entire process when you hire a Porsche is so straightforward, but it would have taken me ages to plan a route like that. It gave me more time to learn how to really drive the 911. I’ve never been in a car that felt so planted, so connected.
