The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo: rewriting the EV rule book
Six reasons why the all-electric Taycan Cross Turismo powers your sense of adventure
The new, all-electric Cross Turismo builds on the success of the Taycan saloon with a striking, sporty profile, increased ride height and more load space. A car designed with your active lifestyle in mind
When Porsche launched the Taycan saloon, it recalibrated our expectations on what an electric vehicle could achieve – on its design, its performance and extraordinary levels of refinement. It’s a compelling story that continues with the arrival of the new Taycan Cross Turismo. A car that’s packed with Porsche innovation, it’s one that offers even greater degrees of practicality, helping make it uniquely suited to active lifestyles. A sporty roofline and large tailgate give you added flexibility in the luggage compartment, enabling your sense of adventure. With up to 30mm of added ground clearance compared to the Taycan saloon, this is an EV designed to go further when negotiating poor-quality roads. A car that implores you to explore.1 An EV made for adventure… and comfortEvery millimetre counts in the new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo – both on the road and inside the vehicle itself. It’s 20mm higher than the Taycan saloon, giving you increased confidence when driving in more challenging conditions as well as on regular roads, without compromising on sporty driving dynamics. And, with the Gravel mode that’s part of the optional Offroad Design package, drivers can raise the default chassis level a further 10mm – perfect for those particularly challenging surfaces off the beaten track.Measuring up to your expectations doesn’t stop there. The design of the sporty roofline on the Cross Turismo is more than just aesthetics, it’s practical too. It adds 45mm of extra head room compared to the Taycan saloon (47mm with the fixed panoramic sunroof) for added comfort for rear passengers.2 Adventure with sports car performance and attitudeThe Cross Turismo is designed with increased suitability on poor-quality roads in mind, but it has been achieved without compromising on the dynamic performance of the Taycan saloon. Using Porsche Launch Control, the 476PS Taycan 4 Cross Turismo hits 62mph from a standing start in 5.1sec, while the range-topping 761PS Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo reaches that it just 2.9sec – just 0.1sec more than its saloon sibling (Taycan Cross Turismo models: CO2 emissions combined 0g/km, electricity consumption combined 29.4-28.1 kWh/100km). The throttle response from the two electric motors is instantaneous and utterly thrilling. It’s e-performance, combined with versatility, that enables your active lifestyle.3 Your driving experience, made easyAs well as being ready for adventure and gifted with sporty performance, the Taycan Cross Turismo is also supremely easy to drive and live with. With all-wheel drive as standard, it adds cornering thrills, responsive steering feel and delicately calibrated stability control to that formidable straight-line speed. With Functions on Demand like Porsche InnoDrive and Power Steering Plus, you can further personalise your driving experience. And, when you are simply driving around the city, it excels as car for everyday use and for its comfort, doing so with the benefit of its innovative electric drive. The Cross Turismo doesn’t stop ticking boxes.4 Striking good looks. With purposeThe world first saw this car in the form of the Mission E Cross Turismo concept study that Porsche presented at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. It turned heads then and, with the production model following the concept closely, it is still doing so now. In profile, its sporty roofline slopes to the rear – what Porsche’s designer call a ‘flyline’. As well as more headroom for rear passengers, you have access to more than 1200 litres through the easy access large rear tailgate with seats folded. It’s a convenience and practicality that will support your active lifestyle. Design elements like wheel arch covers, a front and rear apron and side skirts don’t just accentuate the spirit of adventure but add protection too.Inside, this is an interior that focuses on the driver, while offering the same high levels of comfort and luxury to all passengers. The option of a dashboard-mounted compass display, which also shows your altitude, is a practical reminder that this an EV with adventure built in.5 A sporty EV with bundles of practicalityAs well as the raised ride height and increased volume of the luggage compartment compared to the Taycan saloon, the practical, adventurous nature of the Cross Turismo is added to with perfectly matched options – like a rear-mounted three-bike carrier and roof box. With Performance Battery Plus as standard, your leisure time isn’t hampered either, delivering a long range – 241-283 miles (388-456km) across the model range – and a flexibility that you expect when it comes to off-road driving.6 A symphony of sound and screenPorsche expects you to go further with the Taycan Cross Turismo, and you’ll be aided in your adventures with a range of innovative technology – like its three driver-focused displays. The free-standing curved display behind the steering wheel gives drivers instant, immediate information, while the 10.9-inch Porsche Communication touchscreen controls your infotainment. A centre console with direct display with Direct Touch Control allows adjustment of the interior climate. And front-seat passengers aren’t left out, with an optional 10.9-inch display, something that no other competitor in this segment offers. They can control the sat nav or music, for example, without distracting the driver. Meanwhile, haptic feedback on all displays means you feel a reassuring responsiveness with every touch. The Cross Turismo’s innovations extend to your music too, with the choice of two sound systems from renowned audio experts BOSE® and Burmester® – and, for the first time, Apple Podcasts® are now available. It’s another example of a car designed for an active lifestyle with everyday use practicality.
