With pieces that explode with vibrant colors, Ashley Longshore’s style is energetic, almost electric. By taking cues from the constantly shifting worlds of fashion and pop culture, filtered through her own commentary and cheerfully feminist perspective, her work feels distinctively of the moment.
“If you had to put me into a category it would be ‘pop,’ but I think so much of my work is very different than traditional pop art,” says Ashley. “My feministic take on fashion, luxury and consumerism in America makes me different. My view must be different. But therein lies the magic of art. When we see a creation that mirrors our own view of the world, boom, that is when the synergy happens.” Inspired by her personal experience with Porsche, Ashley was eager to collaborate for a collection of pieces that would blend her signature style with vehicles’:“I have loved Porsche my entire life,” says Ashley. “My father had a 928 S when I was in high school, and he would not let me drive it. Smart man. I could not have handled it.”“Every second of riding or driving a Porsche is an experience. It is thrilling, comfortable and just, well, fun!”Check out Ashley’s pieces below to learn how Porsche served as partner and muse alike in the development of the artist’s work.
Every second of riding or driving a Porsche is an experience. It is thrilling, comfortable and just, well, fun!
The Taycan Turbo is a woman! She is fine as hell and she steals hearts.
“[The Taycan Turbo] is a party, glamorous and beloved. She is elegant and moves fast. You only see beyond her luxurious beauty when you realize her genius practicality. She gets the job done. She is a classic beauty with a modern appeal. She is the boss!”
I wanted a strong pull to nature and discovery, magic, and beauty.
“The second design with the frozen berry Taycan is meant to evoke the wonderment of a day. I wanted a strong pull to nature and discovery, magic, and beauty and a nod to all of the women out there, making their own money, driving their dream car. A Porsche. I did not want any of my designs to be pretentious. I wanted this one to tell a story and create a feeling of joy.”
The color with the combination of birds, power blossoms and butterflies makes me feel happy. The art is about joy.
“The third design is about a moment of bliss, calm and happy thought. I wanted to convey the beauty and design of the Porsche 911 over the years. The color with the combination of birds, power blossoms and butterflies makes me feel happy. The art is about joy: the joy of a moment and hyper feminine expression to attract your female clientele. We are out here. We have money and we dream of being behind the wheel of a gorgeous Porsche.”For more of Ashley’s work, follow her on Instagram at @AshleyLongshoreArt.
